Valentine’s Day

I am OBSESSED with Valentine’s Day – in part because it’s a ridiculous holiday and in part because it’s the perfect excuse to decorate everything pink and red, and get glitter everywhere. (At nearly 30, I still make between 80-100 Valentine’s Day cards and mail them to friends and family)

New Haven has something for everyone who wants to celebrate or ignore Val-Day this year, which is just about a week and a half way. Personally, I will be taking myself to Criterion for Movies & Mimosas to see Princess Bride on the big screen, and maybe going to see the Yale Opera’s performance of La Bohème at the Shubert Theater (Puccini holds a special place in my heart).

Creative Arts Workshop currently has its XOXO: A Sale of Valentines going on right now until Feb. 20th, where you can buy cards, boxes, pottery, and small prints created by the Studio Binders, Studio Potters, and Printmakers of C.A.W.

Project Storefronts will have a pop-up Valentine’s Day shop, located at 45 Church Street. The shop will be open from 5:30 – 8pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There will be complimentary make up tutorials, non-alcoholic light refreshments (while supplies last), and an array of vendors with items sure to suit your special someone.

Yale Opera will be performing Puccini’s La Bohème, the story of young artists in love in 19th century Paris, at the Shubert Theater Valentine’s Day weekend.

There are many more Valentine’s Day happening throughout our beloved city. Be sure to make you Valentine’s Day dinner reservations early! Click HERE to find the perfect restaurant.
